Your career spans both the modeling and acting worlds. How do you navigate the challenges and opportunities presented in these distinct but interconnected industries, and how have these experiences enriched your overall artistic journey?
I believe acting helps me in modeling, because you are a character sometimes and you have to be able to adapt. I’ve been blessed with a lot of great opportunities, and not so great, but I’ve learned from them all. I try to stay true to myself and help others so it seems my spirit allows me to be around some really great people that has helped me and both modeling and acting.
In addition to your successful modeling career, you've ventured into entrepreneurship with your own cosmetic line, CDiamonds Cosmetics and Apparel. Can you share the inspiration behind launching your brand and how it aligns with your vision for empowering individuals in the beauty and fashion industry?
My line started because I wanted others to C the Diamond within themselves. Which is my company moto. It started with women always taking care of everyone else and putting themselves last. It’s not just about makeup but doing something you love. So doing makeup allows me to give back and help others feel like I did the first time I got my makeup done.
What products do you sell and what is your best-selling cosmetic product? Why
I sell cosmetics, face and body care, body, butter, men, and women apparel. My best-selling product I would say my signature body butter that I make. It helps with psoriasis and moisturizing the skin. The fragrance is a conversation starter for men and women.
From winning titles such as Ms. Full-Figured Super Model to becoming the face of CCN Furs and Accessories of New York, you've been a trailblazer in promoting diversity and inclusivity in the fashion world. How important is it for you to use your platform to challenge traditional standards of beauty, and what advice do you have for aspiring models looking to make a similar impact?
I believe that diversity and inclusivity in this fashion world is a must. I know that not being 6 feet tall and a size 2 allows every person out there to see that if I can do it, they can do it. In my brand I show and include every size and shape. I would say to all inspiring models. Don’t give up, don’t let someone else’s belief of beauty define you. There will always be someone that will tell you you’re not good enough or don’t fit, but don’t stop and keep trying.
Travel has been a significant part of your career, including your memorable experience at Black Fashion Week in Paris. How have these global experiences influenced your perspective on the fashion industry, and what advice do you have for aspiring talents who dream of making their mark internationally?
Traveling, allowed me to see that there is so many different things in the world that we can do. I enjoy all new experiences that allow me to grow. The only way to be out there is to go out of your comfort zone, that’s how you can become international. There’s a saying if you can dream it, you can achieve it.
What does your daily skincare routine look like? And what advice would you offer to others for good skincare?
my daily routine is a little different from everyone else. I don’t use a lot of soap on my face. I use my CDiamonds, cleanser and toner foam wash. It’s better to use the cleansers at night or give yourself two hours before going outside. The cleansers open your pores and all the dirt and germs. Get into your pores by doing cleansers in the morning and walking right outside. And you must moisturize your skin twice a day.
